The UN campaign “Orange The World” has been raising awareness of violence since 1991: from the International Day to End Violence Against Women on November 25th to December 10th, Human Rights Day. UN Secretary-General's “UNiTE to End Violence against Women” since 2008 In order to draw attention to the issue, the orange flag “Against Violence against Women” is raised at the HSWT locations in Weihenstephan and Triesdorf.

In 2023, violent crimes against women increased significantly:

➡️Domestic violence: 180,715 victims (+5,6 %)

➡️Sexual crimes: 52,330 victims (+6,2 %)

➡️Digital violence: 17,193 victims (+25 %)

➡️Homicide: 938 cases, of which 360 were completed; 247 victims of domestic violence

➡️Human trafficking for sexual exploitation: 591 victims (+6,9 %)

How do we as a university deal with behavior that violates boundaries? What responsibility do teachers, students and employees have to create a respectful and safe environment? With practice-oriented impulses, Christina Mayer from the Advice Center for Domestic and Sexual Violence, or “HilDa” for short – help is here!, offers concrete approaches for dealing with sensitive issues in the university community.

There are external counseling services for those affected by sexual violence and discrimination at both the Weihenstephan and Triesdorf locations. You can find all the information about this in the attached leaflet “No to sexualized violence”.

Sexual violence and discrimination include verbal, non-verbal and physical assaults. The counseling services can be used by all employees and students at HSWT in the event of any type of sexual violence and discrimination.
