By 2050, 9.8 billion people will live on our planet. By then, we must have doubled our current food production to continue providing everyone with food and drink. Even today, approximately two out of the more than eight billion people on this planet lack access to nutritionally valuable food. Furthermore, around 735 million people suffer from chronic hunger. Despite this, we waste approximately 1.3 billion tons of food globally every year. At the same time, our current dietary habits are contributing to global warming, as they are responsible for about 26% of greenhouse gas emissions. A significant portion of these emissions, around 8-10%, is directly attributable to food waste.

Use of the required infrastructure
For the development and production of your food products, we offer you more than 1,000 square meters of laboratory and pilot plant space with pilot plants for the production of liquid, solid or powdered food products.
In addition, we provide you with access to coworking spaces and meeting rooms.
Founding students of the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in all Bachelor's or Master's degree programs, as well as all employees, have free access to the entire infrastructure.
Food startups have the option user agreement of gaining access

If you are interested in starting your own business, you can acquire the necessary expertise in the field of entrepreneurship and food through our further training courses as well as in bachelor's or master's degree programs .

Financial support
student start-up teams We support in-kind grants for product development and the establishment of a pilot production.
We support innovative entrepreneurs interested in starting a business with their application for an EXIST start-up grant. If the application is successful, we then provide the start-up teams with laboratories, pilot plant facilities, and workspaces for the project phase.
As a food startup , you can receive support through accelerator programs.
In addition, we provide you with access to capital through our network of business angels and investors.
