The startup Whacky Food is the first producer in Germany to offer the globally popular Boiled Peanuts. Startup founders Daniel and Peter discovered the vegan and low-carb superfood on a business trip to Asia. As athletes and amateur cooks, the two founders appreciate the good nutritional value in the form of the Nutri-Scores A and B and that you don't feel guilty when you enjoy a whole bag after exercise. The word “ whacky ” comes from English and means something like “absurd ” , “ amusing ” or “eccentric”.
FSIWS : What’s special about Boiled Peanuts?
Peter: Boiled peanuts offer a versatile alternative to the typical European roasted or natural peanuts. They are not only a delicious snack or appetizer, but also a tasty ingredient in salads, curries, soups, as a dip or puree. Our boiled peanuts are ready to eat, conveniently packaged and versatile - whether as a snack, topping or side dish. They are the result of careful preparation and optimal production to ensure a high-quality product with an incomparable taste.
What are the benefits of boiled peanuts?
Cooked peanuts offer many healthy properties as they contain fewer calories and carbohydrates than many other snacks while being nutrient dense. They also fit a more sustainable lifestyle thanks to their lower carbon and water footprint.
What is your personal favorite recipe?
We enjoy the sweet “ Salted Caramel ” “ Teriyaki ” variety on their own. Umami is also great on a salad or as a topping for a bowl . In addition, thanks to our community, we have more and more recipes. We find pancakes with boiled peanuts salted caramel and vanilla ice cream as well as chili con carne with boiled peanuts spicy .
