Teaching content

The academy program combines learning content on starting a business with knowledge from food technology. It is designed to be very practical, as the FSIWS also wants to address crafts, agriculture and gastronomy. The workshops and webinars offered contain all the relevant information about starting a food startup - from product development to food production, the basics of marketing and sales, to financial planning, funding opportunities and starting a company.

A special highlight of the certificate are the joint product development appointments at the university's food startup incubator with its diverse pilot plants and laboratories for food development and production.

Have you already looked for content on the topic of food?

Impressions from our further training offering

“I think it's great, the different coaches with diverse expertise, the collaborations with the SCE, Selda Morina from the REWE Startup Lounge, etc., the workshops -> relevant knowledge for starting a business is always imparted here, the network via FSIWS/coaches, the exchange between us participants and of course the opportunity to produce at the Institute of Food Technology.

Alina , vegan red wine sauce

“I particularly enjoyed the exchange with like-minded certificate participants, testing their products and the energy that we share with each other. The production facilities in the institute are available to certificate participants free of charge and are ideal for experimentation. There are also other start-ups there that you can also look over their shoulders.”

Chris , Way2Nuts

“As part of the certificate program at the Food Startup Incubator Weihenstephan, I receive very valuable and outstanding support on the topics of product development, food technology, entrepreneurship, sensor technology, patent and trademark research, shelf life of products and much more. Exchanges and learnings are constantly changing and it simply makes a lot Have fun with the coaches and the other participants.”

Mercedes , WineLovelicious

The time here is so exciting and educational.

From helpful contacts to great lectures, you get a lot of input.

The personal exchange with a coach and the regular tastings of the product are also great.

This is how you are well prepared for starting a business!

Miriam , No sweets - chocolate bar

“The certificate program is a good guide in the jungle of the food startup founder world. How do you go about product development? How do you conduct a patent/trademark search? How should a label be designed? What is important in the pitch? And much more… Help is in sight! The exchange with like-minded people and the opportunity to expand your own network in the food sector are particularly valuable.”

Ulrike , regional kombucha

“What I liked best so far is that you are supported throughout the entire development process with the professional expertise of all FSIWS employees. No question is stupid, but is taken seriously and answered excellently or forwarded to the appropriate authorities. The flexibility was particularly important for me when Corona or private/professional appointments were a priority; here you could always talk about it and meet with understanding. I'm looking forward to another equally interesting half-year.

Esther , Habermanns Höflädle

“It was particularly great that we were given the chance to develop our idea under professional supervision at the institute. All the coaches and employees are incredibly helpful. The regular tastings with direct feedback are very enriching for product development. The lectures and knowledge transfer were also very valuable and interesting and the flexibility/switching between online and offline events was a great advantage.”

Sebastian and Nadine , herbal power

“I can only warmly recommend the certificate course. The specialist expertise in product development is enormous. I found the mentoring particularly helpful. In other programs you only have a small time window - here I can ask my questions at any time and get help - no matter in which area. If you don't have the specific knowledge, you will be put in touch with contacts who can help you. I am very grateful for the full support in developing my product idea.”

Hannah , MyMjlk

“It’s good that you have a coach and there are regular updates/conversations. The face-to-face days are also great for mutual exchange.”

Anna , reduced sugar fruit juices

“The food startup incubator in Freising is great. You get valuable tips on the topic of food startups. If you want to start a food startup, you will get the best support here. Excellent care. I can recommend it to everyone.”
