“As part of the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) alumni project at the HSWT, around 80 African guests visited the Freising campus on Friday, June 21, 2024. The program included a visit to the Food Startup Incubator Weihenstephan (FSIWS). The FSIWS offers startups, among other things, the great opportunity to produce in larger quantities and tinker with their products. The rooms and the technical center of the FSIWS were examined during a guided tour. A tasting of dried apples from various drying processes rounded off the informative visit.

The alumni project is offered by the HSWT in Triesdorf for the German Academic Foreign Service (DAAD): Germany alumni from the Global South should receive knowledge and practice for their own development projects in their home countries ( www.daad.de/sdg-alumni- projects ). The motto of the 14-day stay is digitalization in agricultural production and sustainability. In one day, the alumni had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with projects and facilities on the Freising campus and to network. At the FSIWS, guests were able to gain an insight into start-up funding at the HSWT and, of course, especially in the food sector. …”
