The Female Food Founders Award from the Food Startup Incubator Weihenstephan, presented for the first time by Alexandra Wuttig, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Chancellor of the IUBH International University, to the Sonnengläschen team, honors female food startup founding teams that primarily excel through innovative and sustainable food products.

The three students Anja Baumgärtner, Franziska Doll and Luisa Pelzer from the Sonnengläschen team managed to develop and produce their delicious spreads from rescued vegetables in just 18 months, parallel to their full-time studies in food technology at Weihenstephan Triesdorf University, and have since founded their own company also sell successfully. Their first production was completely sold out after just 2 days.

According to the motto “No waste - it's taste”, their goal is to save vegetables that are no longer suitable for trading due to external cosmetic flaws or simply the wrong size. They use this in super tasty and high-quality spreads, which are now available in two versions (tomato basil and garlic dip).

Around 12 million tons of food currently end up in waste every year in Germany alone. With their company, the 3 creative food startup founders want to do their part to reduce food waste.
