In this series, HSWT presents startups affiliated with the university and the FSIWS . The series introduces the companies, their product ideas, and their working methods.

With Tamu-Tamu, founder Nimesh Karia brings a piece of Africa to Germany in the form of natural, fairly produced snacks. The Executive MBA graduate of the Technical University of Munich combines entrepreneurial know-how with social commitment and demonstrates how modern food startups can take responsibility.

What makes your products special?

Nimesh: Our products are 100% natural, free of additives, and sourced directly from small-scale farmers in Africa. We offer dried mangoes in various sizes: small pieces, ideal for children, and larger pieces as a fruity snack for teenagers and adults. We also offer macadamia nuts, both natural and roasted, which provide a sweet and nutritious snack and are rich in valuable minerals such as manganese and magnesium.

Our unique selling proposition (USP) is clear. We focus on natural products, a fair and transparent value chain, and simultaneously create a real impact for local farmers. For consumers in Germany, this means: high-quality snacks with strong nutritional value and a focus on sustainability.

What role does HSWT play for your startup?

Thanks to our close ties with HSWT, we benefit enormously from the academic network and the exchange with industry experts. The location also provides us with the ideal platform to involve young talent early on and to link theory with practical innovation. This exchange is a real added value for us.

Where would you like to go with Tamu-Tamu?

I'm currently working on further establishing the Tamu-Tamu brand and expanding our reach. We want to introduce new products, including macadamia nut butters in various flavors and other nut varieties. Our goal is to be present primarily in specialty stores – where customers are willing to consciously pay for quality and fair production.

What experiences would you like to share with other founders?

You don't have to do everything yourself. There are great manufacturers who can help you scale faster and develop new products. You should definitely take advantage of these opportunities. And most importantly: Be courageous. Many steps seem daunting at first, but they become manageable once you take them.
