In this interview series, HSWT presents startups affiliated with the university. The series introduces the companies, their product ideas, and their working methods.

Maximilian Brenner, founder of SaltFuels, wants to revolutionize sports nutrition with his products – focusing on electrolyte balance of natural origin.

What does SaltFuels stand for and which target group do you produce for?

SaltFuels stands for salty sports nutrition without additives, using electrolytes from real food – completely free of sweeteners, flavorings, or artificial additives. Perfect for anyone who sweats a lot during exercise and wants to replenish their lost electrolytes naturally.

How would you describe your career path so far and what are your future plans?

After completing my business studies, I initially worked for a startup that operates a marketplace for sports bikes. It was there that I discovered my passion for endurance sports. Now, with SaltFuels, I'm taking the plunge into self-employment. Thanks to the flexible production facilities at HSWT, I plan to expand beyond the bars to include Pure Carb in the near future – a syrup with a very high carbohydrate content that, when mixed with water, provides energy even during intense workouts.

What is your experience with the FSIWS?

FSIWS makes it easy to produce food in compliance with regulations and to try out new recipes. I greatly appreciate the fantastic network and the open collaboration with external startups – I am truly grateful for that !

What experience or tips would you like to share with other startups?

Just get started. In my opinion, one of the biggest mistakes is waiting until something is perfect. The market, meaning the customers, will tell you what works and what doesn't.
