The winners of the HOCHSPRUNG Award 2020 have been determined. Among more than 30 submitted activities and measures for the promotion of startup dynamics throughout Bavaria, the Food Startup Incubator Weihenstephan (FSIWS) of the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences was awarded 1st prize for its support of food startups.

The jury evaluated the concept, the degree of innovation, the transferability and the success of the submissions. The FSIWS was particularly praised for its support of founders and startups in the food sector as early as the pre-seed phase. In addition, the possibility to use production facilities and pilot plants for the development and production of innovative food products was highlighted.

Bavaria's Minister of Science Bernd Sibler emphasized on the occasion of the award ceremony:

"I would like to congratulate all those responsible and their teams who have set up the award-winning projects. Thanks to their great commitment, the Bavarian startup landscape is greening and blossoming. And this much is certain: The effort is worthwhile! All the projects submitted are very promising and are helping our founders - and thus also Bavaria, the state of the future - to make progress. Our Bavarian university family has an extraordinarily lively start-up culture, of which I am very proud. We want to support this dynamic even more sustainably with our planned university reform."

After an exciting and somewhat exhausting, but incredibly eventful year, the entire FSIWS team is incredibly happy about this extraordinary honor. We will make every effort to go one step further next year in order to create even better support opportunities for all committed founders in the food sector.
