Freising - The Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) and the AOK Bavaria have sealed their cooperation in writing on Thursday. In the focus are the topic complexes nutrition and health as well as movement and nature, emphasis is the research and innovation environment. The support of students and food startups is of great importance. Specifically, representatives of HSWT and AOK signed cooperation agreements for the AOK Digital Lecture Lab as well as for support regarding the Food Startup Campus in September of this year.

Within the framework of their cooperation, AOK Bayern and HSWT want to support each other in particular in topics related to sustainability in nutrition and in the lived natural environment. To this end, the partners will cooperate in the areas of research, development and innovation as well as in the transfer of knowledge to society. Furthermore, the health promotion of students and employees of the university will be part of the cooperation.

"We are pleased to have a like-minded partner in AOK Bayern, with whom we can collaborate effectively in areas that are of high importance to our university, such as startup promotion and the sustainable future of nutrition," said HSWT President Dr. Eric Veulliet at the signing of the cooperation agreement.

Stephan Abele, Vice Chairman of the Board of AOK Bavaria, also welcomes the new partnership: "In the future, we want to work closely with Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in the areas of nutrition and sustainability. The health of students is also very close to our hearts. We see our commitment to the new Startup Lounge and to the Food Startup Award as an important contribution to health promotion."

AOK Digital Lecture Lab

With the AOK Digital Lecture Lab, a co-working space for students and startups is to be created on the premises of the Food Startup Incubator Weihenstephan (FSIWS). It will be flexibly convertible into an event space for lectures, training courses and advanced training. Digital presentation and transmission technology will ensure that these can also be streamed live online. Among other things, the AOK Bavaria and the HSWT are planning a joint series of lectures in the field of nutrition and health, especially on topics related to the mental health of students. AOK Bavaria is providing financial support for the establishment of the AOK Digital Lecture Lab.

AOK Food Startup Awards

In addition, AOK Bayern will sponsor the prize money for the three best finishers in the startup competition at this year's Food Startup Campus on September 30. At this annual conference organized by FSIWS, food startups present their products in short presentations, which are tasted by a jury and participants. A panel of experts from AOK and HSWT will vote on the best food startups. The first to third places will each receive an AOK Food Startup Award, endowed with 1,000, 700 and 300 euros respectively.
